Mariah Elk Farm
Cortland, NY
Mariah Elk Farm has been established from excellent breed stock from Eastridge Elk Farm in Cornish, New Hampshire. Homer, our prized elk bull is the byproduct of this union. Homer, who is 4 years old, was the 2nd elk bull calved on our farm. He has been first place in many hard antler contests. As a 2 year old, he scored 389 0/8 unofficial, at 3 years 443 0/8 official, and now at 4 years 573 3/8 SCI, all measurements are made by North American Elk Breeder trained hard antler scorers. With elk bulls, antler size and body condition are determining factors whether you are offering for sale as breeder stock, shooter bulls for hunt preserves or the butcher business.
At the beginning, it was evident that a feed product which would be readily consumed by the whole herd; consistent in quality, food value, and shelf life, was needed. After several trials of various feeds and experiments with other recipes and vendors, Blue Seal 16% Deer Pellet, and Blue Seal's partner, Antler King Deer and Elk Pellet, were the combination for our farm. We have found that this diet and the use of Antler King Minerals and Mineral Blocks will keep the whole herd in good rig throughout the year with good calving, fast calf growth, and quick reconditioning of the bulls after Rut.
In this age of ever escalating cost of product and shipping, Blue Seal makes it possible for one stop shopping for our feed products. The overall good results of using Blue Seal Feeds, and its partners, will help keep Mariah Elk Farm, Homer, his sons and daughters, and the whole herd on the right track.
