Nutrition Notes NutriVantage® For Poultry For Commercial Poultry Operators In the last seven years we have developed excellent data regarding the benefits of our proprietary products called NutriVantage® Nutrition Optimizer®. These products have shown benefits in young pigs, grow-finish pigs, sows, broilers, starting and finishing cattle, dairy cattle, dairy calves, and show animals. In 2012, we had an opportunity to work with an Integrated Layer Operation in Iowa during the summer months to determine if added NutriVantage for poultry would benefit layers. The results and graph are shown below: NutriVantage® for poultry at commercial poultry operations • Evaluated NutriVantage in a commercial layer operation in Iowa. • 270,000 layers were fed diets with NutriVantage® added at 2 lb/ton of complete feed. • Another barn of 270,000 layers were fed diets with added electrolytes provided via the water. • Test period was July and August of 2012. • Results: o Layers on the standard program with electrolytes had a marked decrease in egg production (-859 dozen eggs per week). o Layers on the NutriVantage diets had significant increases in egg production (+1,600 dozen eggs per week). SUMMARY • Added NutriVantage® clearly showed a positive improvement in egg production. • Recommendations for NutriVantage® in commercial layer operations are: o Begin feeding in Mid-May prior to the onset of summer heat; continue feeding until September 1. o Utilize NutriVantage® during any periods where there is additional stress such as when filling barns, during disease outbreaks, temperature changes, etc. o NutriVantage® can also be utilized in developing pullets. o Contact the Kent Nutrition Department for additional recommendations on how to use this commercial product in broilers, turkeys, and game birds.
